An intense and vibrant tone which will color next year's clothing and accessories

As regular as clockwork, every December the color guru Pantone reveals the tone that will shape the coming year: the colour picked for the year 2023 is Viva Magenta, coded 18-1750, a shade belonging to the red family. A nuance vibrating with vim and vigor, Viva Magenta is an expression of strength, chosen  – in the words of the Color Institute – not only because it is “an unconventional shade, for an unconventional time” but also because it is brave and fearless, inspiring optimism.  A colour that is certainly not new to the fashion world, since the last few seasons – summer and winter alike –  have been dominated by various tones of fuchsia and red, but that is now being revived in a different shade.

For Spring/Summer 2023, footwear collections have already colored the models that will be in stores starting from January in various shades of magenta. A sign that a desire for positivity, triggered by the post-pandemic period,  was in the air; but, above all, the experimental spirit of this colour is in tune with the metaverse, finding itself halfway between the physical and the virtual worlds – so much so that it has been  christened “The Magentaverse”.  The future is already written: it’s going to be a hit on social media!
