Andrea Mondin, Damiano Marini and Marco Proietti are among the designers starring in the finals of the contest launched by Altaroma and Vogue Italia

Brainchild of Altaroma and produced in association with Vogue Italia, the Who Is On Next? contest has been a showcase for new talents and a springboard to international success for years now. It selects the most promising young fashion designers of clothes and accessories.

All we need to do is mention a few names that came out of the contest’s previous editions and you’ll see just how important this platform, which was recognised as one of the world’s most prestigious contests from day one, really is:  MSGM by Massimo Giorgetti, Arthur Arbesser, Aquilano Rimondi, Angelos Bratis, Paula Cademartori, Albino, Benedetta Bruzziches, Giannico… but the list is much longer than that.

With the final event approaching, which will take place on 7 July in the Guido Reni District in Rome, the selection panel, made up of talent scout Simonetta Gianfelici and Sara Sozzani Maino, Vogue Italia senior editor and head of Vogue Talents, has selected twelve finalists, six in the clothing and six in the accessories category.

And three young footwear brands are appearing in that last category: Damiano Marini, Andrea Mondin and Marco Proietti Design.
Mondin, who comes from Valdobbiadene, launched his luxury shoe brand in 2016, after working for Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Christopher Kane and Anthony Vaccarello.

Marini, on the other hand, born in 1984, is from Rome. He has an academic background in economics and fashion and shoes. Having worked at a number of companies in the Marche footwear district, in 2015 he created the brand that carries his name.

And lastly, Proietti, born in 1979. He is a graduate of the Accademia di Costume e Moda [Fashion and Costume Academy] in Rome. He has worked for Itierre, Versus and other major brands.
