The second edition of the book brings the fashion system into the contemporary world

Maria Luisa Frisa returns to talk about fashion after her 2015 book, when she had already addressed the theme “The shapes of fashion” (Il Mulino). With the 2022 edition, the fashion theorist and curator, founder of the degree course in Fashion Design and Multimedia Arts at the Iuav University of Venice, as well as editor in chief of the magazine Dune, tackles the post-pandemic scenario and new frontiers of luxury and underlines the multidisciplinary character of fashion that dialogues with other contemporary disciplines, from ecology to gender studies. At the same time, she also addresses how it is a universal language, a complex system that embraces the phases of ideation, design, market, and consumption. For this reason, the author in her book dedicates attention to fashion and its time, to its constant dialogue between training and the world of work, to luxury and the challenges of sustainability, issues that have become very topical today, compared to 2015, and which have brought with them new concepts and a new cultural awareness.
