Children’s clothing and accessories for SS 2022 will be all about practicality

Practicality rhymes with comfort. This is true for clothing where streetwear – as we saw at last June’s Pitti Bimbo – is back in the spotlight with tracksuits, sweatshirts, and basic t-shirts to combine with shorts and denim clothes; but it is above all true in footwear. This is where Italian brands’ mastery comes into its own, through the study of how to fit shoes to growing feet. From sandals to sneakers, evergreen models for every child’s spring-summer wardrobe, it’s all a series of soft leathers, natural fabrics, flexible soles, and removable insoles. In addition to these, there is now also a green turn in production that is evident in the use of sustainable materials for the upper (bamboo, the peel of grains of rice), as well as for the sole (rubber and recycled plastic). Naturino has also chosen to follow this path with its ‘Vegan’ line made in experimental materials: soles made from recycled plastic, laces in recycled polyester, and also with its ‘Green 4.0’ shoes made with natural cottons and leathers coloured with flowers.
Falc, which is behind the Naturino brand, for SS 2022 is collaborating with Cuoio di Toscana for a Naturino capsule collection of leather and nubuck sandals for girls – two for their very first steps and four for slightly older children – in pastel shades of yellow and blue, beige and orange. Both brands aim to guarantee the quality of their products, starting with their leather, which is a 100% natural resource, that is recovered and renewable.

Among the many takes on sneakers in the collections of companies specialising in children’s footwear the ‘old school’ models with a slightly retro flavour stand out: block-coloured gym shoes in bright colours, fluorescent and glittery uppers, and iridescent details.
