On February 2 the Council of Ministers pronounced a decision regarding the entry of foreign citizens that favours incoming dealers visiting trade fairs and events in Italy.
In view of the upcoming Micam trade fair scheduled for March 13 through 15 in Milan, Assocalzaturifici Chair Siro Badon spoke for the country’s footwear industry when he expressed his satisfaction with the government’s decision to allow international dealers who have been vaccinated with vaccines not authorised by the EMA to attend Italian trade fairs with a “basic green pass”, that is, a rapid antigen or molecular Covid test.
“This is an intelligent way of making up for a gap in the regulations,” commented Badon – that could have prevented the attendance of numerous buyers and visitors from countries such as Russia, China, Northern Europe, the Middle East and other emerging markets of strategic importance for Italy’s footwear industry and the Italian economy in general. With just over a month to go before Micam, we have good news for the entire industry, which has been sorely tried by the pandemic and is only now beginning a gradual return to pre-Covid levels. Companies will now be able to come to the trade fair in the conviction that they will not be missing out on business opportunities”.
