After a 5-year long battle, Goldstar has won the various lawsuits brought by Birkenstock in Italy and Europe. The company is based in the Romagna area and is owned by the Silvagni family, which also controls the brands Valleverde and Biochic. The object of the lawsuits was the sole design that the German company wanted to trademark. In reality, the sole in question has been the hallmark of the Italian brand since the birth of Rafting Goldstar 40 years ago. The anatomical cork-sole shoes were born then, despite now being modern and fashionable and inspiring many designers and recent collections.
