There are four days (from the 27th to the 30th of October) when, at Base Milano, students from the schools participating in the Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda (Fashion Training System Platform) – including, for footwear, ‘Cercal’, ‘Politecnico Calzaturiero’, and the ‘Arsutoria School’ – will be in the limelight, with workshops and panels, catwalks and other activities. Not only catwalks, however, but a whole occasion when training organisations dialogue with the fashion system itself, and creativity interacts with production. It is for this reason that the initiative has the support of Confindustria Moda, the federation that brings together seven fashion industry associations that see young people as an indispensable asset for the growth of a sector that, over the next two years, as the president Claudio Marenzi pointed out, will be able to create 40-45,000 jobs.
‘Fashion Graduate Italia 2019’ thus confirms itself as a fundamental activity for the Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda which, as the president Giulia Pirovano recalled, works to develop training projects that are aimed at the needs of the sector. Amongst these needs, there are certainly the questions of environmental and social sustainability. Indeed, they feature so prominently that they will constitute the dedicated topic for the day of the 28th of October, which has been developed around a collective catwalk from 16 schools, preceded by the screening of River Blue, a docu-film about the production of denim that is dying rivers around the world blue, and a roundtable on the subject.
