Parents and children suited – and booted – in the same way: a growing trend

It all began in the States last year when Kim Kardashian and her daughter were spotted dressed exactly the same. Since then there has been a succession of models, both clothing and accessories, made in two versions and sizes: maxi and mini, that is for the mother and her child.
As the months have passed, the trend has gone beyond being a female-only phenomenon. Indeed, now fathers and sons can indulge in wearing same garments and accessories – particularly footwear. Often identical, sometimes with small variations in the details or colours.
Even the catwalks have been infected by the matching bug: for some time now Elisabetta Franchi has had on the catwalk some of the items of the children’s’ wear “La Mia Bambina” line, with shoes produced by Andrea Montelpare, at the same time as the adult products.

Mothers and fathers seem to like this trend, so much so that many brands, from Ferragamo to Gucci, from Balenciaga to Burberry propose version of their lines in miniature.
Indeed, Italian footwear manufacturers have rapidly noticed these signals coming from a market that is increasingly hungry for creative ideas and solutions to revitalise consumption, such as Gianni Gallucci.
