The brand was born from the know-how of a company that is attentive to both quality and the environment.

There are companies that have an enviable know-how, built from years of experience working for major national and international brands. One of these is ‘Emmegiemme Shoes’ in Salento, specialised in the production of sneakers.

How about creating your own brand? “Never”, said the two partners Rocco Gnoni and Maria Pia Morciano. And, yet, here they are yielding to the temptation to establish themselves on the market with their own brand, which they have called ‘MaiMai’. For 26 years it is sneakers, naturally, that have been the core business of the company from near Lecce. They are very meticulous in their construction and their choice of materials, with special models like those with a ruff (a creative use of pleats) for the winter, or those created in collaboration with Liberty of London for the Spring/Summer 2020 season.

In addition to quality, the shoe factory also aims for sustainability; in fact, the Surano plant uses only self-produced solar energy and, to incentivize employees to use alternative energy sources, free charging points for electric cars have been installed in the company car park. With a ‘Made in Italy’ production of over 2,000 pairs of shoes a day, made by around a hundred internal employees, the company also uses two external workshops, which are part of the Salento-based network, located in Romania and Bulgaria. The assembly, finishing and quality control are, in any case, always carried out in the Surano factory by skilled workers, so much so that attention to the profession has resulted in the creation of an internal training academy. Over the years, the company has received certification of their production process from the English Institute SATRA “BS en iso 9001” and, later, from the German Institute DASA REGISTER “ISO 14000” thanks to their high level of quality and respect for the environment.
