The Australian designer produces her shoes in Italy

Though she officially debuts with her autumn-winter 2020/21 collection, Lana Volkov started her career as a designer in Australia back in 2012, handmaking extravagant shoes for a number of customers and the runway. Her passion, however, goes back much further to when, as a child, she would cut up and redesign her mother’s shoes. When she finished high school, Lana completed an industrial design course at Swinburne University, followed by a Made-to-Measure Shoe Design course at RMIT University. After undertaking a serious search for a production partner abroad, she came to Italy; here she discovered a place where her creativity could run free.

The collection for next winter is entitled Rebirth, symbolising life, growth and liberty. There are classic yet feminine shapes, like pumps and ankle boots, decorated with tassels, creating movement with each step, and printed and woven patent leather and skins. Every choice has been made based on the lifestyles and personalities of contemporary women.
