The event of the year, the Met Gala (after the break last year due to the pandemic), returns in person on the 13th at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and comes before the inauguration of the exhibition In America: A Lexicon of Fashion that will open on the 18th of September. This time around, the annual exhibition dedicated to fashion is divided into two parts: the first is called In America: A Lexicon of Fashion and will last until the 5th of September 2022 and the second part, In America: An Anthology of Fashion, will be inaugurated on the 5th of May, 2022 and will also last until the 5th of September 2022. This two-part event aims to demonstrate how fashion has affected American identity by exploring a multitude of perspectives to highlight its strong aesthetic and cultural impact. The first part aims to establish a modern American fashion vocabulary based on the expressive qualities of clothes and their association with principles of fairness, diversity, and inclusion. 100 outfits by pioneers of American style and garments by contemporary designers will be on display. The second part will present a collection of historical and contemporary clothing, with an itinerary that covers 300 years of domestic, political and cultural life, seen through the “stills” of various directors.
