With the slogan “Make it Shine” 3,500 brands are in the spotlight
[On the cover: MICAM96 ADV Campaign]
Eight events under the aegis of Confindustria Moda are concentrated in just over a week, and above all at Rho Fiera Milano, with the exception of the DaTE eyewear trade fair in Florence brought forward to the 9th and 10th of September. We get straight to the heart of accessories and ready-to-wear, from jewellery, to footwear, from leather goods, to outerwear, to materials, in the week from the 15th to the 21st of September, with the opening of the HOMI FASHION&JEWELS Exhibition and followed by MICAM from the 17th to the 20th in conjunction with MIPEL and The One Milano and followed by MIPEL Lab, LINEAPELLE and Simac-Tanning Tech from the 19th to the 21st of September. A concentration of products, materials and technology that brings together 3,500 brands from the accessories supply chain, which together await over 45,00 buyers from all over the world. The range of events is also international, with exhibitors covering almost every part of the globe. The common thread for all the trade fairs is green: the colour of sustainability, which is the objective of many companies to pursue together with the digital transition and training. This is a topic that is particularly close to Assocalzaturifici’s heart, as President Giovanna Ceolini specifies, so much so that a round table is planned at MICAM on the 20th of September entitled “Prospects for education and training”. But MICAM is also a concentration of trends and new talents thanks to the collections of 12 emerging designers, the presence of start-ups from young entrepreneurs (Blockvision, CDCStudio, Dotzero and Sneaknit), and the Mittelmoda fashion show which for some editions has chosen MICAM as the stage on which to reward the winners of the international contest, with prizes made available by the various associations in the fashion industry.
After the fashion show, the most voted shoe of MICAM Capsule will be presented out of competition and previewed at PLUG-MI, the Urban Culture festival, a meeting point for youth subcultures, which ended a few days ago in Milan.
Topics such as the future of retail, with a focus on 3D technologies (platforms Tailoor and FIBBL and the retail tech company SafeSize will be featured), macro footwear trends for the next season 24/25 by WGSN, the presentation of Livetrend’s Buyer’s Guide, the situation with sustainability, and the market prospects for buyers are spread over the four days of the fair within the MICAM X format.
Sustainability themes are also dear to the other trade events. For example, LINEAPELLE has planned a rich schedule of meetings and talks in light of the evolution of new regulations and legislation awaiting approval which will substantially impact the management of tanning activities and, more generally, the green transition of the industry of fashion, luxury, and design. The “In the making” format is also new, a multifaceted space where you can get a completely new idea of leather as a material through works of art and design pieces created ad hoc.
