Clothing and accessories under the spotlight at Fashion Graduate 2019 held in Milan. Sustainability, innovation and new professions are among the topics debated.
Fashion is increasingly attractive for young people. As is demonstrated by the presence of prestigious schools and academies part of Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda and the number of people who attended the events surrounding Fashion Graduate Italia 2019, held from the 27th to the 31st October in Milan. Not only were there shows, but also workshops, encounters and activities to debate the topics affecting the sector, including environmental and social sustainability, which was also the theme of a collective show. Three Institutes specialising in shoe education were among the schools present at Base with both stands and shows: Cercal in San Mauro Pascoli, Arsutoria School in Milan and Politecnico Calzaturiero in Vigonza.

Accessories are a central part of the education offered at many other fashion schools. Accademia Costume & Moda in Rome, for instance, presented the Master’s Accessories Exhibition with projects by students who studied the Master in Accessories Design, in collaboration with brands like Fendi, Il Bisonte, Ferragamo, Crisden and Dyloan Bond Factory.
IUAD Accademia della Moda, with campuses in Naples and Milan, brought the projects of its 10 best students to the runway, showcasing high levels of creativity with regards to shapes and materials. The Accademia also offers a Postgraduate MA in Accessory Design (footwear and leather goods), aimed at creating professionals who can manage the design and development of accessories from the stylistic, technical and production perspectives.
