The ‘Glove Eco’ work shoe was selected
Diadora Utility was selected by the 100+ experts of the permanent Observatory of Design ADI (Association for Industrial Design) for the Compasso d’Oro (Golden Compass) 2024 award, the Italian design world’s “Oscar”. The product in the spotlight is ‘Glove Eco’, the work shoe designed to offer not only technical and quality performance, but also respect for the environment. Each of its components, in fact, has been designed to reduce its environmental impact and increase the sustainable contribution of the supply chain: from the tread to the laces, from the upper to the stitching, down to the colours, thanks to the use of Global Recycled Standard certified recycled materials. The model was included in the ‘Design for work’ category among the 248 products featured in the ADI Design Index 2022, the volume dedicated to candidates for the Compasso d’Oro Award. The ‘Glove Eco’ shoe, together with the other selected products, was exhibited in November at the ADI Design Museum in Milan and will also be at the Istituto dell’Enciclopedia Italiana Treccani in Rome. “This candidacy is an important acknowledgment of our way of doing business which sees among its founding values the constant search for new materials and technologically advanced solutions” – says the President Enrico Moretti Polegato – “the ‘Glove Eco’ is the demonstration of how design, comfort, safety, and attention to the environment can coexist in a single work shoe.”
