Hand-made baby shoes for christenings and special occasions.
A nostalgic, scaled-down world which takes its inspiration from the world of dance, the atmosphere of the ‘30s and ‘40s and the craftsmanship that goes into hand-made products. This, in a nutshell, describes the ethos of Sonatina, a line of baby shoes created thanks to the passion and creativity of Lena Aboo.
Both a designer and an artist, with a degree in Fine Arts and specialization in painting, Lena inherited from her Russian mother and Kenyan father the artistic sensitivity that she would later apply to her line of baby shoes: booties for christenings and special occasions made of flawlessly finished ultra-soft glove leather and embellished with playful, imaginative details.
In 2012, after meeting Sanja Stojanovic, formerly product developer at H&M, then product manager at Piombo and now a partner at Sonatina, the company took a new direction and started producing shoes up to size 39.
But that is a rather different matter – more a case of industrial manufacturing.
