Fashionable footwear is all the rage at Rome’s La Sapienza University, where the Science of Fashion and Costume programme now includes a seminar on “Italian footwear” held in partnership with Assocalzaturifici incorporating a series of specific events that students may attend to earn university credits.
The first event was held on November 22, entitled “Italian shoes: design and construction” and presented by Paolo Marenghi of Arsutoria School. The speaker addressed topics such as the study of form to ensure the proper relationship between foot and shoe, from the idea to shoe design, with a technical explanation of the principal components of the shoe.
On December 3 Sara Cuccù talked about Loriblu and her role as a young entrepreneur. The year 2019 will open with seminars on January 17 by Assocalzaturifici General Manager Tommaso Cancellara and on February 7 by trend forecasting company WGSN.
