‘Animalia Fashion’ opens on the 8th of January at Palazzo Pitti. On show are clothes, accessories and jewellery.

[On cover: Entomology Prada bag]

More than a fashion show, it is a fantastical, hyperbolic natural history museum where insects, fish, birds and shells can be admired upon bags, shoes, clothes and jewels, interspersed with real stuffed animals, butterflies and insects kept in cases, or drawings from ancient bestiaries.

The exhibition, curated by Patrizia Lurati, will stay open until the 5th of May 2019 at Palazzo Pitti, the Fashion and Costume Museum.

It is a foray, therefore, into the relationship between fashion, from the years 2000 to 2018, and animals, a theme also dear to designers and a source of inspiration in terms of shapes and colours for clothes, accessories and entire collections. Fashion (not only Art), like a “monkey of Nature”, says the release on the exhibition, represents a fabulous way to discover the wonders of the animal world.
